Psychedelic Science, this year’s gathering hosted by the legendary nonprofit Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) and organized by Momentum Events, announced its final agenda, which will include opening remarks by Colorado Governor Jared Polis, featured speakers and a new local day-pass option.
Taking place on June 19-23 in Denver and with an estimated 10,000 attendees, the Psychedelic Science agenda will feature panels, workshops and lectures from leaders and visionaries in psychedelic research, education, policy, business, culture and communities.
Conference tracks will be complemented by pre-conference workshops, an exhibit hall, and an interactive installation space featuring artists, musicians and international vendors, with a total 400+ speakers, seven+ tracks and a number of breakout and small working groups.
Gov. Polis will kick off the main conference on June 21 at 9 AM MT. In addition to the previously announced presence of comedians Eric Andre and Reggie Watts, featured speakers include atai Life Sciences’ ATAI founder and chairman Christian Angermayer; Toms Shoes’ founder Blake Mycoskie; Burning Man’s CEO Marian Goodell; neuroscientist, professor and famed podcast host Andrew Huberman; and authors and philanthropists Catherine and India Oxenberg.
The new local day pass will be available for Colorado residents, eligible to purchase a one-day conference registration for Friday 23 attendance starting Tuesday 13 at the event’s website.
“Colorado has always been on the forefront of cannabis and hemp and now we are committed to carrying out the will of our voters on psilocybin. There are potential opportunities around psilocybin when it comes to mental health, support for our veterans, entrepreneurship, economic development and more — and Colorado looks forward to safely leading the way,” said Gov. Polis.
MAPS, founder and president Rick Doblin called Polis “a once-in-a-generation” governor, adding that his administration “has made reasoned, pragmatic, yet wholesale changes to the draconian drug policy in Colorado, which was a direct result of the failed War on Drugs,” and that his vision for the health and well-being of his constituency “is one that should be replicated across this country.”
Alexander Shulgin Research Institute To Announce Two New Lead Compounds
Meanwhile, next-generation psychedelics pioneer the Alexander Shulgin Research Institute (ASRI) announced information on two recently-identified lead compounds, currently undergoing late-stage preclinical testing, will be further disclosed in a live press conference at Psychedelic Science 2023.
As stated by ASRI, the novel compounds demonstrate great potential in addressing unmet medical needs. Globally, the Shulgin Vault contains over 500 compounds synthesized by Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin and ASRI scientists, offering a vast library of novel variations of phenylalkylamines, tryptamines, lysergamides, isoquinolines, cathinones and more.
"It has been a busy time for ASRI. In just two years, we have acquired the inventions, discoveries, and work product of Dr. Alexander 'Sasha' Shulgin, assembled a team of executives, scientists, and clinicians, synthesized dozens of novel molecules, and developed a robust preclinical testing cascade," said ASRI co-founder and president Dr. Nicholas Cozzi.
Co-founder and CSO Dr. Paul Daley added that the institute has filed twelve patents comprising “thousands of new chemical entities and multiple therapeutic indications” since its foundation in 2021.
The findings’ presentation will take place on June 21 at 11:30 AM MT. Drs. Cozzi and Daley will present "Chemistry for Consciousness" on June 22 at 3 PM MT where they will discuss ASRI's R&D efforts and the future of psychedelic medicine. They will also participate in a post-presentation panel discussion.
