Apple Inc. AAPL super-powered widgets in iOS 17 with the introduction of interactive widgets, allowing users to do a lot more quickly from the comfort of their home screen. Here we tell you how to best use interactive widgets in iOS 17.

What Happened: Apple brought interactive widgets in iOS 17, allowing users to perform actions and glance at more information right from the home screen, lock screen, and the StandBy mode screen.

Although widgets have been available since iOS 14, they were quite restricted in terms of functionality. For instance, tapping on a widget would open the respective app instead of performing an action.

After allowing third-party apps to utilize the notch with Dynamic Island last year, Apple has now made its widgets more functional with iOS 17.

How To Use Interactive Widgets: Follow these steps to add interactive widgets in iOS 17 quickly:

  • Touch and hold on to an empty space on the home screen page where you want to add the widget until the existing apps and widgets start jiggling.
  • Now tap on the ‘+' button at the top of the screen to open the list of widgets.
  • Find the widget you want to add and then tap on it.
  • Select the size you want and then tap "Add Widget."
  • The app icons and widgets will continue to jiggle – drag the new widget where you want.
  • Now tap "Done".

You can now use interactive widgets to do things like playing or pausing music, crossing the tasks you've completed, and more.
