Cannabis Operators Get Ready For Rec Market Launch In Maryland
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed a marijuana legalization measure in May, allowing sales to kick off on July 1. Medical cannabis dispensaries that have already operated statewide paid a conversion fee, allowing them to sell recreational cannabis as well.
Several cannabis companies recently announced they would start serving Marylanders in their respective dispensaries this Saturday, including:
- RISE Dispensaries, a cannabis retail chain owned by Green Thumb Industries Inc. GTII GTBIF, will commence adult-use sales at its four dispensaries statewide - RISE Hagerstown, RISE Joppa, RISE Silver Spring and RISE Bethesda.
- Curaleaf Holdings, Inc. CURA CURLF will begin recreational cannabis sales at all four Maryland-based dispensaries in Montgomery Village, Frederick, Columbia and Reisterstown.
- Located at 35 E Cross St in Federal Hill, the Cookies Baltimore cannabis dispensary announced will reopen its flagship store to celebrate the cannabis policy change getting enacted. Cookies Baltimore, or MIMD Operating 1 LLC, was shut down by the state regulator in June due to alleged violations of state marijuana laws and regulations.
- Trulieve Cannabis Corp. TRUL TCNNF has three cannabis dispensaries in the state, in Halethorpe, Lutherville-Timonium and Rockville.
- Verano Holdings Corp. VRNO VRNOF will commence recreational cannabis sales at its four Zen Leaf retail locations across the state.
California's Newest Cannabis Shops
- Nestled among the vibrant murals and street art of Los Angeles' iconic Arts District, Coast to Coast Cannabis' newest dispensary at 542 Alameda Street will hold a grand opening event on July 1.
- Catalyst Cannabis at 324 West Beach St. in Watsonville announced a grand opening ceremony, which is scheduled to take place by the end of July. The shop will offer a wide selection of cannabis products, including smokable and edible and CBD-infused products.
Latest Dispensary Openings In Six States
- Green Thumb's RISE Dispensaries opened a new store in Danville, the company's 6th retail location in Virginia and 83rd nationwide. The grand opening event is scheduled for July 15 at 816 W. Main Street.
- Lume Cannabis Co. reopened its store in Michigan, reported Detroit Metro Times. The Southfield store at 26760 Lahser Rd. will kick off recreational cannabis sales on Tuesday.
- Florida-headquartered medical cannabis giant Trulieve Cannabis Corp. TRUL TCNNF will host a grand opening celebration on Friday, June 30 at is new Newnan, Georgia-based store at 1690 E. Highway 34. This is the company's third medical cannabis dispensary statewide.
- Verano Holdings Corp. VRNO VRNOF continues to build its retail footprint in Florida with the opening of MÜV Venice on Friday, June 30. The new medical marijuana shop is located at 4369 South Tamiami Trail.
- Cresco Labs CL CRLBF 6CQ announced the opening of two new stores in Washington and Pennsylvania. Located directly off I-70/79 (Western Pennsylvania's Major North-South Interstate) at 380 Washington Rd., Sunnyside Washington is in a high-traffic shopping area near a Walmart Supercenter, Sam's Club and Target. The Somerset location at 250 Stoystown Rd. is directly off I-76, making it easily accessible by car to people in the Borough and greater Somerset County.
