Serial entrepreneur, investor, author, and business expert Kris Mathis is reaching out to help entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level through his Full Circle Business Coaching program.
Mathis has been providing business coaching services for 13 years, having helped more than 1,000 entrepreneurs, and his inspiration through his messages, videos, and live appearances have traveled to more than 100 countries. Around 95% of his clients are small businesses, which are valued at $1 million and below, in various industries, including food and beverage, tourism, and cosmetics.
According to Mathis, small business owners can benefit from a business coach who understands the business landscape and has the experience that they lack. This will allow owners to build strong fundamentals and develop business best practices, leading to stability and spurring further growth.
"It can be very difficult to do business without having prior experience. By working with a coach, business owners can learn the technical ins and outs, as well as have someone they can bounce their ideas off. My job as a business coach is to take their ideas and incorporate them into a plan that will help them grow their business."
Having business coaching can be a worthwhile investment, leading to increased business revenue. With a second, more experienced brain coming up with ideas, a small business can double its revenue in a span of a few months. Mathis also guides business owners through the technical aspects, such as figuring out their marketplace advantage, messaging and marketing strategies, and the financial aspects of running a business.
"As a business coach, I always tell the business owner to start with the 'why'. Why do you do this? We really need to understand the reason behind the business, and why it's so important to you and your family. The next step is figuring out how we can take this thing forward to the next level. How do we build something that's going to solve a problem in the community and turn it into a business. Then we walk through the phases step-by-step and build out that business model. We have to know what your goals are. And my goal is to help you build something that's not only going to make you money, but it's going to be sustainable and will take care of you and your family for the long term."
According to Mathis, his inspiration to become a business coach came from navigating the world of entrepreneurship without having someone to guide him.
"I grew up without my father – no mentorship, no guidance, and no one to show me how this stuff works. I had to figure it out myself. I told myself that, when I make it, I'll never make another person go through this journey alone. This has been my inspiration to become a business coach, walking entrepreneurs through the process and showing them how to truly build something that's sustainable and successful."
Having been raised by a single mother, Mathis saw the struggles she went through in raising a family, and he now helps female entrepreneurs with the various challenges they encounter. Around 80% of his clients are women, and the majority of them are women of color.
"I had the chance to sit with a single mother of 2 kids, and she had a great idea for a business, but she needed a bit of support in fleshing it out. That's where coaching comes in, and I helped her figure those parts and pieces and get the business off the ground."
Mathis says he makes sure to apply a personal touch in his work as a business coach. The small business journey is often as personal as it is professional, and many small business owners hold their businesses close to their hearts, as if it were their child.
"I'm very passionate about helping people walk that journey, because when I had to go through it, I had to do it alone. As a coach, I walk with business owners through their personal and business lives, helping them bring it all together to find a healthy balance. My team and I work together to help our clients figure out how to move the business forward based on the goals that they've set."
