Elon Musk And Stephen King Engage In Witty Twitter Exchange Over Mark Zuckerberg Rivalry

In a Twitter exchange that blended wit and social commentary, Elon Musk posed a pointed question to Stephen King after the latter compared the rivalry between the tech billionaire and Mark Zuckerberg to the controversial sport of fox hunting.

What Happened: On Friday, bestselling author King took to Twitter and drew a comparison between the rivalry of tech moguls Musk and Zuckerberg with the words of Oscar Wilde, who once referred to fox hunting as “the unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible.”

King’s tweet appeared to hint at the potential futility or pointlessness of the competition between the two entrepreneurs.

In response, Musk posed a question in a somewhat playful and sarcastic manner, “In the spirit of self-awareness, what are you?” It seems Musk might be asking King to reflect on himself and identify what he represents or stands for.

It can be interpreted as a challenge to the author’s perspective or a way of suggesting that King should consider his own motivations or contributions.

It is worth mentioning that Musk pays personally for the Twitter Blue subscription, which comes with a blue check for King, even though the latter previously vehemently opposed paying for it.

Why It’s Important: The tweet might have been prompted by the recent interactions, although indirectly, happening between Musk and Zuckerberg. Last month, Musk expressed willingness for a “cage match” with Zuckerberg, which the Meta CEO accepted. Since then, netizens worldwide have been looking forward to the biggest showdown, if it happens.

However, in the meanwhile, Zuckerberg ended up landing back-to-back virtual and not-so-subtle punches on Twitter and its owner. This happened after Meta unveiled its decentralized social media platformThreads, on Wednesday and the Meta CEO actively engaged with new users on the platform.
