Kennedy Jr. Says He Will Neither Badmouth Trump Nor The Left: 'That's Not What My Campaign Is About'

In a recent conversation with Lex Fridman, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. reinforced his commitment to refrain from disparaging either the left or Donald Trump during his presidential campaign.

What Happened: Fridman posed a question to Kennedy Jr. on behalf of Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson on what he thinks on when the left goes “too far,” primarily when it comes to cultural issues and identity politics.

The presidential hopeful said Peterson seemed to have an “agenda” when the two had a conversation together, where the latter wanted Kennedy Jr. “to say bad things about the left.”

“That's not what my campaign is about,” he told Fridman. “I want to do the opposite.”

Kennedy Jr. said he also recently faced pressure to similarly badmouth former President Donald Trump and Alex Jones among others recently by another interviewer.

“There's a lot of bad things I could say about all those people, but I'm trying to find values that hold us together and we can share in common, rather than to focus constantly on these disputes and these issues that drive us apart.” he told the MIT scientist.

Why It Matters: Kennedy Jr.’s refusal to engage in negative rhetoric about his political opponents aligns with his previous statements about not attacking others personally.

One recent poll has shown Kennedy Jr. to have a higher favorability rating than both Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

His campaign has also been viewed by some Republicans as a potential advantage in exposing Biden’s flaws early in the nominating contest, potentially leaving him more vulnerable in the general election.
