As the 2024 election draws near, Donald Trump continues to dominate the polls among Republican voters. While Florida Governor Ron DeSantis's popularity seems to be waning, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has been making gains in voter support in recent weeks.
A recent Twitter Spaces event involving Ramaswamy could be fueling heightened interest in him, a trend reflected in his growing social media following.
What Happened: In the latest Morning Consult national poll of Republican voters, Ramaswamy received 8% of the vote, trailing only Trump and DeSantis.
The poll found that a large percentage of voters still don’t know who Ramaswamy is, as there is less known about him than other political figures running in the 2024 election.
Ramaswamy recently participated in an open dialogue on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter. David Sacks and Elon Musk hosted the nearly two-hour conversation with Ramaswamy, where they delved into a variety of topics.
The presidential hopeful said that he is “genuinely worried” about the future of America, as shared by Fox News.
“I am genuinely worried that the American dream will not exist for my two sons and their generation unless we do something about it. I did not expect to be running for president, but I saw a field certainly on the Republican side forming where I saw a lot of people who are running from something. I didn’t see anybody who was running to something,” Ramaswamy said.
The X/Twitter Spaces event, which premiered on Friday, July 28, garnered over 50,000 live viewers at its peak and has since accumulated over 1.4 million listens.
Appearing on Spaces may have helped increase the social media presence for Ramaswamy in an election that could see an increasing number of candidates using events like podcasts and Spaces to better market themselves.
Ramaswamy had 789,983 followers on Twitter as of Thursday, as reported by Social Blade. Ramaswamy posted a gain of 14,736 people on Saturday, marking his biggest gain in recent weeks and well ahead of an average daily gain of around 5,300.
On Sunday, Ramaswamy gained an additional 7,428 followers on the platform.
At the time of writing, Ramaswamy has 822,400 followers on X, gaining over 159,000 in the last 30 days.

Why It’s Important: Despite the gains, Ramaswamy is still significantly behind several of the top contenders when it comes to having a following on X. Here are some of the follower counts for top 2024 candidates:
- Joe Biden: 31.8 million (@potus), 37.3 million (personal)
- Ron DeSantis: 2.1 million (personal), 4.5 million (governor account)
- Robert F. Kennedy Jr: 2.1 million
- Donald Trump: 86.5 million, has not tweeted since 2021 despite being reinstated on the platform by Musk
- Nikki Haley: 939,200
- Mike Pence: 5.1 million
- Chris Christie: 874,000
- Tim Scott: 760,700
Ramaswamy is garnering increased support from voters, and his growing public presence might be boosting awareness of his campaign and political platforms.
In the most recent Morning Consult poll, Ramaswamy saw a gain among Trump and DeSantis voters when asked who they would pick as their second option. Ramaswamy also received his highest-ever favorability rating since his campaign was announced in February, with 51%.
Ramaswamy’s net positive score of 32 points was the highest in the field in the latest poll. An unfavorable rating of 14% for Ramaswamy was also the lowest of all candidates for the week.
