Exclusive: Latin Rapper Akapellah Launches Cannabis Pre-Roll Brand, Los Porros De Don Pedro

Acclaimed Latin American rapper Akapellah has made a groundbreaking entry into the U.S. cannabis market with the release of his own pre-rolled joint brand, Los Porros de Don Pedro. In exclusive conversation with El Planteo, the most-read cannabis news source in the Spanish-speaking world, the artist revealed us that these joints are a special collaboration between the Latino-owned delivery service, Yerba de la Buena, and O.B.G., Akapellah’s crew. These meticulously designed pre-rolls aim to cater to consumer convenience. "They are crafted with your comfort in mind, allowing you to enjoy them anytime and anywhere," the makers said. Packaged in rice paper cones, each joint promises a slow burn and an uncompromised flavor.

Yerba de la Buena, serving as the exclusive retailer for these products, is dedicated to bolstering premium local brands. "We offer secure access to high-quality cannabis products to promote responsible consumption and the growth of the local industry. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding customer service with a knowledgeable team that aims to create a welcoming environment for all," the Yerba de la Buena crew added.

But this venture isn't just about business. For Akapellah, whose real name is Pedro Elias Aquino Cova, it's also a continuation of his outspoken advocacy for cannabis. "People often judge us based on our song content and videos, associating marijuana consumption with idleness, violence, and irreverence... However, the world is changing, and educated individuals can now discern that if platforms as influential as Forbes are keen to know what a 30-year-old Venezuelan rapper thinks about medicinal marijuana, there's a bigger story behind all this,” Akapellah passionately remarked in an interview.

Witnessing the evolving social acceptance of cannabis, Pedro argues for its worldwide legalization, especially emphasizing the harsh penalties in Venezuela, his home country. "The way it's criminalized in Venezuela is brutal," he said. "Someone might face years in jail for possessing an amount that shouldn't warrant such punishment. The mere possession, regardless of quantity, leads to criminal charges."

Apart from Los Porros de Don Pedro, Akapellah has also launched a distinct cannabis strain named O.B.G. Kush. Describing the strain, he said it’s incredibly indica-dominant, perfect for insomnia and muscle disorders, and enriched with CBD, "all the medicinal benefits one could hope for when looking to relax during nighttime movie sessions."

Despite his advocacy, Pedro remains a discerning and responsible consumer. He openly shares that he took a hiatus from consuming cannabis when it no longer offered him the desired effect.
