How To Enable Crash Detection On iPhone And Apple Watch

Apple Inc.'s AAPL iPhone 14 series includes a life-saving feature that has already helped multiple people escape terrifying accidents. The iPhone 14 crash detection feature can connect to and alert emergency services as well as notify emergency contacts.

Apple introduced crash and fall detection features with the iPhone 14 series and Apple Watch Series 8 in 2022. The self-explanatory feature detects sudden crashes and falls and sends an SOS message to emergency services and contacts.

Life-saving Feature: Crash detection has already saved multiple lives – most recently, a woman named Ashly's car fell 30 feet below a cliff. While she was unconscious, her iPhone 14 alerted emergency services, who rescued her, and she escaped with mere bruises.

Earlier this month, an iPhone crash detection feature saved the life of a man whose car fell a terrifying 400 feet off a cliff in the Mt. Wilson area in California.

The local authorities found him yelling and calling for help nearly 400 feet below the road.

That should be enough to convince you to enable crash detection on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

How To Enable Crash Detection On iPhone: Apple keeps crash detection enabled by default, but if you want to be sure or need to edit your emergency contacts, follow the steps below:

• Open the Settings app and tap Emergency SOS.
• Now, toggle Call After Serious Crash on.

Now, if you have an Apple Watch Series 8, here's how you can enable fall detection:

• Open the Watch app on your iPhone, then tap the My Watch tab.
• Tap Emergency SOS.
• Turn Fall Detection on.

That's it, that's all there is to enabling crash detection.
