Biden, during his recent comments, mentioned that he and the first lady, Jill Biden, would visit Maui “as soon as we can.” However, he quickly shifted his focus to the Inflation Reduction Act during a scheduled trip to Wisconsin. Olivia Dalton, the Principal deputy press secretary, indicated that the White House is in discussions about a potential visit to Hawaii, though no specific details were provided.

Former President Donald Trump criticized Biden’s response, likening it to Biden’s reaction to the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, which Biden has yet to visit. Trump labeled Biden’s response to the Maui tragedy as “disgraceful,” accusing him of neglecting the situation.
