Elon Musk's Tesla Is Reportedly Gearing Up For FSD Beta Launch In China Despite Regulatory Hurdles

Tesla Inc. TSLA has begun preparations for launching FSD Beta in China, despite potential regulatory challenges, Electrek reports

Citing a local media outlet36kr, Electrek says that Tesla is currently hiring a new team to manage the rollout of FSD Beta in China. This will include a new operations team and "hundreds" of data labelers.

The FSD package, which currently costs $15,000, has been on sale for almost a decade but has yet to fully deliver autonomous driving via over-the-air software updates.

Although FSD Beta is available for Tesla owners in North America, it still requires the attention of the driver at all times. The feature has not been adapted or approved for other markets, including China—Tesla’s largest market outside of North America.

Earlier this year, Tesla CEO Elon Musk reportedly met with Chinese officials to prepare for the launch of FSD Beta.

Despite these plans, the launch of FSD Beta in China is not expected until next year due to regulatory hurdles. However, Tesla is financially incentivized to launch, given its large fleet of potential FSD package buyers.
