While Apple Inc.’s AAPL upcoming iPhone lineup launch is just weeks away, rumors surrounding the iPhone 16 series have already gained momentum.
What Happened: Analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities has shared insights into the potential enhancements that could redefine smartphone photography and connectivity, reported MacRumors.
The most eye-catching feature is the speculated inclusion of a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide camera sensor in the iPhone 16 Pro. Up from the current 12-megapixel sensor, this upgrade signifies a considerable leap in image quality and versatility.

The iPhone 14 Pro series already introduced a 48-megapixel main camera with innovative pixel binning techniques, and this second high-resolution sensor promises improved low-light photography and enhanced zoom capabilities.
In addition to the camera innovation, Pu’s research suggests that Apple is considering adopting Wi-Fi 7 technology for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. The report noted that Wi-Fi 7, the next generation of wireless networking, could revolutionize internet connectivity with simultaneous usage of 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, potentially delivering up to 40Gbps.
Although Wi-Fi 6 is still being developed and is expected to be finalized by early 2024, Apple’s reputation as an early technology adopter raises questions about its feasibility for the iPhone 16 Pro’s production timeline.
Why It’s Important: In May, it was reported that iPhone 16 Pro Max model could possibly be dubbed the iPhone 16 Ultra, as it could have a larger display size.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 launch is all set for Sept. 12.
