This New AI-Powered Social Media App Wants You To Express Your Authentic Self By.. Being Fake

Social media platforms are a dime a dozen, but the prominent ones like X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok hog most of the limelight. Now, a new app is trying to grab attention by combining social media and artificial intelligence.

What Happened: A new social media app named BeFake has been launched, with its unique selling point, the fact that you can be fake. That's right, the app wants you to have a fake persona on its platform instead of your real one.

Most of the major social media platforms have tried to weed out fake users – at least those which depend on real user identities like X, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Reddit is the only major outlier here, with anonymity being a key feature of its service.

Now, BeFake is trying to bring that anonymity and marry it with AI, giving its users an opportunity to use their imagination to create distinct and vivid personalities.

"Built to reduce the pressure and time it takes to create that perfect moment, our app allows you to create hyper-interesting content using AI," says the app's description. Think of Midjourney with a twist of social media sharing.

How It Works: BeFake works just like any other AI image generator – users must input text prompts.

The twist here is that you will be recording yourself. The built-in AI will transform your visuals based on your text prompts. The idea is that the most imaginative BeFakes grab the attention of other users on the app, and that's how you become famous.

Users can also share images generated using text prompts; those who find it interesting enough can post their reactions and comments.

BeFake's selling point is its anonymity powered by AI – the most imaginative users will drive the platform. Users can also buy credits or get a weekly, monthly, or yearly subscription. It remains to be seen whether users find AI-powered customization interesting enough to take the plunge.
