Xi Jinping's Army Displays Readiness For Taiwan Strait Conflict: 'Ready To Fight All The Time…Any Time'

Xi Jinping’s army released a propaganda video suggesting preparation for a conflict in the Taiwan Strait.

What Happened: The Eastern Theatre Command’s official WeChat account published the video on Thursday depicting soldiers in combat gear engaging in activities that simulate a conflict situation, The Guardian reported.

The video, titled “Reading the Strait,” does not directly mention Taiwan. Nonetheless, the Eastern Theatre Command division of the People’s Liberation Army oversees the Taiwan Strait and regularly conducts drills around the island nation.

Last month, China’s President, Xi, urged the military to enhance its war preparedness during a visit to the command’s headquarters in Nanjing.

The WeChat post accompanying the video stated that Eastern Theatre Command soldiers are “ready to fight all the time, ready to fight at any time.”

Why It Matters: This came after China recently aired an eight-part series, “Zhu Meng,” showcasing the People’s Liberation Army’s readiness for potential conflict with Taiwan. This coincided with the PLA’s 96th anniversary and further indicated Beijing’s preparedness for a confrontation.

Earlier, a report suggested that China may be planning for Taiwan’s annexation as early as 2024, which could exacerbate regional tensions. This coincides with China’s aggressive maneuvers towards Taiwan, including frequent airspace incursions.

Meanwhile, a renowned China hawk and Hayman Capital Management founder Kyle Bass has also pointed out Xi’s resolve to “bring war to the West.”
