“Gen Z is the cannabis native generation entering the workforce with a share of wallet dedicated to this consumer product category,” Emily Paxhia said at the recent Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Miami.
Paxhia, the founding and managing partner of Poseidon Investment Management, offered her insights into the evolving trends in the cannabis industry and the dominant role of Generation Z.
If you missed her in Miami, you'll be glad to know that Paxhia is a featured speaker at the upcoming Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference in Chicago, Sept. 27-28.

“So they were the first by the way,” she continued, “the first generation that is now eclipsing flower sales with vape sales, and vape is more of a finished good. It’s more of a consumer product than the flower in a jar.”
This shift in consumer preferences signals a significant change in the landscape of cannabis products. With the rise of vaping products, businesses in the cannabis industry are noticing the shift and adapting to these new market dynamics.
Paxhia's optimism about the future prospects of the industry is evident. “We’re progressing, and I’m a buyer. I think this is going to be great,” she said. Reflecting on the current market scenario, she drew parallels with the past, suggesting a sense of déjà vu. “And by the way, who gets to buy at these levels? It’s like 2018 all over. I wish we could turn back the clock.”
