Trump Recounts 'Terrible' Jail Booking Experience: 'Done Nothing Wrong'

Former U.S. President Donald Trump opened up about his recent uncomfortable encounter with the booking process at a Georgia jail.

What Happened: In separate interviews with Fox News Digital and Newsmax, Trump recounted his experience of being booked at the Fulton County jail as a “terrible” one,  The Hill reported.

The former president on Thursday handed himself over to the authorities due to 13 charges linked to efforts to reverse the 2020 election results. Trump described the process as “very sad” and uncomfortable, mentioning that he consented to a mugshot. "They insisted on a mugshot and I agreed to do that," he said during his interaction with Fox Digital.

“This is the only time I've ever taken a mugshot,” said Trump.

"It is not a comfortable feeling — especially when you've done nothing wrong."

Speaking with Newsmax, he expressed disbelief over the booking process. This marks Trump's fourth booking and arrest in 2023, with prior charges in Manhattan, Florida, and Washington.

"I went through an experience that I never thought I'd have to go through, but then I've gone through the same experience three other times. In my whole life, I didn't know anything about indictments. And now I've been indicted, like, four times," he said.

Why It Matters: Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis announced 13 charges, which detail Trump’s pressure campaign against election officials, a ploy to submit false slates of electors, and a lawsuit aimed at reversing the state’s results.

Trump’s surrender to the authorities at Fulton County Jail and his subsequent booking is a historical event, as he is the first former U.S. president to face criminal charges. The trial for one of the defendants, former Trump attorney Kenneth Cheseboro, is slated to commence on Oct. 23. Prosecutors aim to initiate all 19 defendants' cases on this date, a strategy that Trump's legal team opposed.

Meanwhile, more than two years after being banned from Twitter, Trump has taken to the Elon Musk-acquired and rebranded social media platform, X. Trump on Thursday shared his infamous mugshot taken during his booking at Fulton County jail.
