Elon Musk once again took a direct jab at Mark Zuckerberg, calling him a “chicken.” However, it is uncertain if the post Musk reacted to was authored by the Meta Platforms Inc. CEO.
What Happened: On Saturday, a graphic designer at Dogecoin DOGE/USD, who goes by the name Doge Designer on X, formerly Twitter, shared a screenshot that purportedly originated from Zuckerberg on Threads.
In the screenshot, Zuckerberg cryptically stated, “I’m again not at home today, hee hee.”
Musk, never one to back down from a social media skirmish, swiftly retorted, saying, “He’s such a chicken.”
However, a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the screenshot’s legitimacy adds intrigue to this spat.
Benzinga couldn’t find Zuckerberg’s post on Threads and, therefore, was unable to confirm its authenticity. Zuckerberg’s last post on Threads dated back nearly five days.
Why It’s Important: The incident is the latest episode in the ongoing rivalry between Musk and Zuckerberg. It intensified following Threads’ launch, which was initially dubbed as an alternative to Twitter.
Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022.
Adding another layer to this online feud, Zuckerberg recently hinted at the potential cancellation of a highly-anticipated showdown between the two tech giants.
The proposed “cage match” originated from a provocative tweet by Musk, but Zuckerberg expressed doubts about Musk’s seriousness and suggested it might be time to “move on” from the hype.
