Former Atlanta Mayor Was Mistaken As Fani Willis By Trump Crowd Outside Fulton County Jail: 'There Was A Lot Of Anger...'

Ex- Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said the atmosphere outside Fulton County Jail before former President Donald Trump’s arrest was such as she had “never seen before.”

According to an article in The Hill, Bottoms detailed the scene on Saturday, stating, "There was a lot of anger, a lot of hatred in the air."

When she arrived at the jail, many among the crowd mistook her for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and started chanting, "Lock her up."

Bottoms, who once worked inside the Fulton County Jail, referred to the spectacle as “surreal.” She had previously outlined the hostile environment to CNN last week.

Willis had set a deadline until the previous Friday for Trump and his 18 co-defendants to turn themselves in at the Fulton County Jail in connection with a racketeering case. Trump, accused of orchestrating efforts to invalidate the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, revealed his intention to surrender earlier in the same week.

His announcement resulted in dozens of supporters gathering outside the jail ahead of his arrival. As of Friday, all 19 defendants had surrendered to the Georgia authorities.

Upon his arrival at the Fulton County Jail and subsequent booking, Trump achieved the distinction of becoming the inaugural president in history to undergo the process of having his photograph taken for a mug shot.
