In the glinting corridors of Los Angeles' business streets, many stories unfold. Yet, few resonate as deeply as the tale of Madison Shockley III, a trailblazing entrepreneur with a robust social vision. After investing over $1 million, a five-year-long journey and a pivotal lawsuit against the City of LA, Shockley's dream dispensary, aptly named Off The Charts Powered by Cadre, flings open its doors.
Cadre's inception was more than just about peddling premium cannabis. The brand rises as an emblem of social justice in an industry that often falls prey to disparities. “It's about creating a safe haven for the community, a place where they not only find quality products but feel a sense of belonging,” asserts Shockley, Cadre’s charismatic CEO.
As customers would stroll down 615 East 61st Street this Saturday, they'll be greeted by an ambiance where cannabis intermingles with art, music, and fashion. Live tunes, spearheaded by the artist LaRussell, will fill the air, creating an electric atmosphere. “Being part of Cadre's story, watching them transform from an idea into this grand vision - it's been awe-inspiring," reveals LaRussell.
The alliance between Cadre and Off The Charts is a testament to partnerships that drive change. Norman and Darline Yousif, the power duo behind Off The Charts, voice their pride in this collaboration, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship that has flourished between the two entities.
However, Cadre's story isn't without its thorns. Shockley's crusade against the city in 2020 stands as a testament to his tenacity. With the city's mismanagement over social equity cannabis licensing, Shockley rallied fellow equity applicants, leading a monumental lawsuit that eventually birthed 100 additional dispensary licenses for deserving applicants.
In the backdrop, Madison also spearheads the Cannabis Equity Policy Council, weaving a network of entrepreneurs and organizations aiming to bridge the industry's glaring disparities. His mission? To usher in a renaissance within the cannabis ecosystem, driven by fairness, growth, and inclusivity.
This dispensary isn't just a business; it's a monument to resilience, justice, and vision.
