In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, owner Elon Musk acknowledged Hungary’s proactive measures to combat a declining birth rate, a subject of his consistent concern.

What Happened: Musk responded to a post by journalist Tucker Carlson who had traveled to Budapest to interview Hungary’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orbán, for his show on X called ‘Tucker On X.”

“Very interesting. Hungary is trying hard to address their birth rate problem,” wrote Musk.

The SpaceX and Tesla Inc. CEO’s comment comes in the context of Hungary’s severe population decline. The country has seen a natural population loss of 464,000 between the 2011 and 2022 censuses, despite an influx of 131,000 immigrants, as reported by The Budapest Times.

Why It Matters: Musk has been vocal about his concerns regarding declining birth rates and the potential population crisis it can lead to. In a previous post, Musk warned about the “big reckoning” that the U.S. and other nations with falling birth rates would face.
