Sony Group Corp SONY shared plans to hike the price of all its PlayStation Plus 12-month subscriptions globally, across PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra, and PlayStation Plus Premium.
From September 6, Sony, PlayStation Plus Essential will cost $79.99, PlayStation Plus Extra will cost $134.99, and PlayStation Plus Premium will cost $159.99.
For current 12-month subscribers, this price increase will not take effect until the next renewal date, which occurs on or after November 6.
This price adjustment will enable Sony to continue bringing high-quality games and value-added benefits to the PlayStation Plus subscription service, the company justified.
Sony also announced the Monthly Games lineup for September. Saints Row, Black Desert – Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero will be available to PlayStation Plus members from Tuesday, September 5, until Monday, October 2.
In August, Sony reported first-quarter FY23 sales growth of 33% year-on-year to $21.63 billion (¥2.96 trillion), beating the consensus of $18.11 billion. Adjusted EPS of $1.28 beat the consensus of $0.96.
Sony sold 3.3 million PS5 units in the quarter versus 2.4 million a year ago.
In Q4, Sony shared its aim to sell 25 million units of PS5 in the current year (up from 19.1 million in FY22).
Price Action: SONY shares traded lower by 0.30% at $82.36 on the last check Wednesday.
