Rivian Automotive Inc‘s RIVN Dual-Motor AWD and Performance Dual-Motor R1T have received their official EPA range ratings and they are simply impressive.
What Happened: The Dual-Motor and Performance Dual-Motor R1T have the best range in Rivian’s lineup with an EPA-estimated range of 410 miles with its Max pack and 352 miles with the Large pack. This highest range can be achieved when the vehicle is paired with 21″ wheels.
When equipped with 20 or 22 inch wheels, the range varies as follows:
Battery Pack | Wheel Size | Range (In Miles) |
Max | 21-Inch | 410 |
Max | 22-Inch | 380 |
Max | 20-Inch AT | 355 |
Large | 21-Inch | 352 |
Large | 22-Inch | 341 |
Large | 20-Inch AT | 307 |
With the R1T numbers out and astounding, Rivian customers are now eagerly awaiting R1S numbers and the release of the Max pack. The 180 kWh Max pack production is expected to start later this year. The Large pack is a 135 kWh battery.
“Keep an eye out for full R1S range figures soon,” Rivian wrote on X, formerly Twitter, raising anticipation for the range of the pricier R1 vehicle.
Why It Matters: Rivian launched the R1 platform with its flagship quad-motor drive system targeting performance both on-road and off.
The Dual-motor AWD and Performance Dual-motor drive system configurations were introduced for users who want additional range by sacrificing the capabilities of the quad-motor. The quad-motor R1T variant is estimated to have a range of only 328 miles.
