Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google has officially rolled out its generative AI-powered Search feature in Indian and Japanese markets, following its successful debut in the U.S.

What Happened: In Japan, this feature supports local languages, providing users with results in their preferred dialect. It’s available in English and Hindi in India, catering to the nation’s linguistic diversity.

Users can interact with this advanced tool via text queries or voice commands.

Unique to India is a language toggle, facilitating seamless switching between English and Hindi. Additionally, users can opt to listen to search results, aligning with popular local preferences.

Despite these enhancements, Search ads will continue to appear in dedicated slots on the page.

Apart from expanding its generative AI search market, Google also announced a streamlined method to make it easier for users to access web pages and have the additional context to the information presented in AI-powered summaries.

Upon encountering an arrow icon adjacent to details in an AI-powered summary, users can now simply click to access pertinent web pages and gain more context by visiting these websites.

Initially debuting in the U.S., this feature will subsequently be introduced to the Japanese and Indian markets in the upcoming weeks.

Why It’s Important: Google’s Search feature helps users find information like buying items on sale. It differs from Google’s AI-powered chatbot, Bard, which has human-like conversational capabilities and can even write computer codes.

Although, in the realm of internet search capabilities, Google’s Generative AI experience in Search or SGE can be compared with Microsoft Corporation’s MSFT Bing.
