With these dynamics at play, August is shaping up to witness the most substantial inflows into cash-equivalent bond ETFs since the chilly month of February. Coincidentally, the S&P 500, as tracked by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust SPY is also bracing for its initial monthly decline since that time.
While the SPDR Bloomberg 1-3 Month T-Bill ETF has been a favorite, other funds like the iShares 0-3 Month Treasury Bond ETF SGOV have seen nearly $2 billion in inflows. Meanwhile, the Goldman Sachs Access Treasury 0-1 Year ETF GBIL and the iShares Short Treasury Bond ETF SHV have attracted over $500 million and $400 million, respectively.
