New Hampshire Governor Criticizes Trump's Influence On GOP Losses: 'It's A Negative Brand'

New Hampshire’s Republican Governor Chris Sununu has openly criticized former president Donald Trump, attributing the GOP’s losses in recent elections to the ex-president’s influence.

As reported by Rolling Stone on Saturday, Sununu expressed his disappointment with the “Trump brand” during an appearance on ‘Meet the Press’. He stated that Republican school board members in New Hampshire have been losing their seats because they are often associated with Trump’s politics.

Sununu said, “It's about the former president more than anything. It's a negative brand. It puts a lot of hesitation. So, it isn't just the federal seats. It's the governorships, the school boards, the congressional seats — all of them.”

Despite recent poll numbers indicating Trump’s lead is growing nationally, Sununu expressed surprise and pointed out that these numbers differ greatly from what he is observing in local conversations. He also mentioned that in New Hampshire and Iowa, where candidates are actively campaigning, Trump’s numbers are much lower.

Addressing the topic of Trump’s eligibility to run in future elections, Sununu indicated he sees no reason why Trump would not be on the ballot if he follows the same rules as everyone else. Sununu’s comments come amidst ongoing attempts by some of Trump’s opponents to disqualify him based on the 14th Amendment.
