Which Is The World's Most Crypto-Aware Population? ConsenSys Report Shows It's This African Nation

In a recent global survey, Nigeria has emerged as the country with the highest level of awareness about cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin BTC/USD and Ethereum ETH/USD.

Nigeria holds the highest position, surpassing major economies such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, and Germany.

The survey also revealed that 70% of Nigerian respondents understood the basic concepts of blockchain technology. Moreover, Nigeria’s knowledge of the crypto sector is reflected in its population’s ownership of cryptocurrencies, with 76% of the 1,001 Nigerian respondents either holding or having previously held cryptocurrencies.

Despite the Central Bank of Nigeria severing ties with cryptocurrency exchanges in February 2021, Half of the survey participants expressed the view that regulators should create legislation that promotes involvement while ensuring the protection of investors.

In contrast, the survey data for the United States showed that while 95% of respondents were aware of crypto, only 50% owned or had previously owned cryptocurrencies.
