Former NSA Says Vivek Ramaswamy Reminds Him Of Donald Trump Due To Firm Opinions: 'They May As Well Be in Kindergarten'

Former National Security Adviser John Bolton compared GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to ex-president Donald Trump on their shared stance on Ukraine.

What Happened: Bolton, who served under Trump’s White House, suggested on Tuesday that Ramaswamy, a Republican presidential hopeful, bears a striking resemblance to Trump, especially regarding his political approach towards Russia’s war in Ukraine.

In a CNN interview, Bolton stated, “I think Ramaswamy reminds me an awful lot of Donald Trump.”

“He has very firm opinions on subjects he knows absolutely nothing about and this was an example of it.”

He drew similar parallels between Trump and Ramaswamy’s comments about the ongoing war in Ukraine, criticizing their overly simplified views of the complex situation, akin to “kindergarteners.”

“The main point is that Ramaswamy has made other points about this war and about what he’s going to do to try and solve it.”

“Like Trump said, he would put Zelenskyy and Putin in a room and have it solved in 24 hours. Ramaswamy is going to go to Moscow, convince Putin to break the alliance with China, and end the war that way.”

“They may as well be in kindergarten talking about a very complex situation, but there’s no mistake that Ramaswamy emulates Trump every time he can,” he added.

Why It Matters: Ramaswamy, a 38-year-old conservative entrepreneur, recently caused a stir by refusing to label Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal, suggesting that such a determination should be made by the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ICC issued an arrest warrant for Putin and another Russian official in March, citing alleged war crimes.

Ramaswamy previously disregarded his GOP presidential competitors, stating that only he and Trump mattered in the race. His defense of Trump’s actions, despite the disapproval of some, aligned him with the former president, even as he stated he would have handled certain events differently.

Earlier, Mark Cuban also referred to Ramaswamy as “Donald Trump with a vocabulary” as the GOP candidate’s popularity rose in election polls and betting odds.
