Elon Musk is considering launching a X Premium referral program, allowing X (formerly Twitter) users to earn commissions on successfully referring users to the social media platform's subscription service.
What Happened: In a response to a user requesting Musk to expand Tesla Inc. TSLA referral program to X, Musk seemed to be considering the request.

"How about an X referral program? Refer a (verified human) friend and get free X premium / they get free X premium," posted Whole Mars Catalog.
Musk responded by saying "Maybe," suggesting that we could one day see a X referral program being launched.
What It Matters: At a time when the Musk-owned social media platform is struggling in terms of revenue due to advertisers being forced to shun it due to alleged antisemitism, Musk has been agreeing with posters asking people to support the platform by subscribing to X Premium.
Musk has threatened to sue ADL, a non-profit organization that tries to identify instances of antisemitism and get it removed. Musk alleged that this has led to a 60% fall in its revenue, and claimed that ADL "has been trying to kill this platform by falsely accusing it and me of being anti-Semitic."
With X's revenue drying up and Musk looking for avenues to give it a boost and prevent its collapse, we might just see him implement a referral program that incentivizes users to subscribe and refer others to the X Premium service.
Currently, X Premium costs $8 per month or $85 per year if subscribed using the company's website. Benefits include prioritized rankings, fewer ads, longer posts, the ability to edit tweets, and also to qualify for the company's ad revenue sharing program.
