Vice President Kamala Harris voiced her concerns over the possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, The Hill reported

Harris called the potential meet-up a “huge mistake” for North Korea and an “act of desperation” for Russia amid the latter’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

"First of all, when you look at Russia's unprovoked war on Ukraine, and the idea that they [North Korea] would supply ammunition to Russia, well, it's predictable where that ends up," Harris stated.

Harris added that this move would further isolate both Russia and North Korea.

A U.S. official announced last week that Kim Jong Un plans to visit Russia within a month. The meeting’s location is uncertain, but Vladivostok is a probable choice due to its proximity to North Korea.

Harris iterated the U.S.’s unwavering goal of denuclearizing North Korea and criticized Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, calling it a violation of key international norms.

U.S. officials suspect that North Korea has been supplying ammunition to Russia, further fueling their concerns about the two countries’ deepening cooperation.
