Chinese EV manufacturer Nio Inc NIO announced on Monday that it will unveil its new EC6 SUV online on Sept. 15.
What Happened: During the company’s second-quarter earnings call, CEO William Li cautioned that while EC6 deliveries will commence in September, it will take some time for production and delivery to scale up.
“But within its own segment, it will be dominating the major market share,” he said.
Current Line-Up: Nio’s product lineup includes eight models: ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring. With the upcoming EC6 launch, Nio will successfully transition all eight models to its new NT 2.0 EV platform.

The EC6 is an electric coupe SUV, with show cars already available at showrooms and test drives scheduled to begin on Friday, as reported by CnEVPost. Detailed specifications and pricing for the vehicle are not yet available.
Why It Matters: Nio delivered 19,329 vehicles in the previous month, marking an impressive 81% year-over-year increase.
For the third quarter, the company anticipates delivering between 55,000 and 57,000 units, reflecting a robust 74% to 80.3% year-over-year growth.
Nio also projects third-quarter revenue of $2.61 billion to $2.69 billion, representing a substantial 45% to 50% year-over-year expansion.
Price Action: Shares of Nio on the NYSE closed 0.40% down at $10.04 on Friday. They were up 2.89% before the opening bell on Monday, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
