VEON Finishes First Phase Of 4G Network Upgrade Across Uzbekistan, Gears Up For Phase 2 Next Month

VEON Ltd VEON disclosed that its digital operator, Beeline Uzbekistan, finished the first phase of its network upgrade in August 2023.

The upgrade will boost the 4G experience on the network and allow the company to accelerate the benefits of its digital operator strategy across the country.

The project, which includes 14 regions of Uzbekistan and covers 54 cities and 137 districts, is expected to enhance 4G expansion coverage to 85% at the end of 2023 from 78% at the end of 2022.

As of July 2023, Beeline Uzbekistan has over 6 million 4G customers, representing 69.3% of its customer base and adding 1.1 million 4G users Y/Y.

The second phase is expected to be finalized in October and boost 4G coverage in major urban areas such as Tashkent and Samarkand.
