Tommy Tuberville Doubts Senate Will Secure Votes To Impeach Joe Biden: 'Wouldn't Even Let It Make It To The Floor'

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) has indicated the unlikelihood of the Senate gathering votes to impeach President Joe Biden, amid ongoing debate within the Republican party, The Hill reported.

Tuberville expressed skepticism about the potential progress of the impeachment inquiry initiated by House Republicans into President Biden’s family’s foreign dealings and his son’s prosecution.

Speaking on NBC's "Meet the Press NOW," Tuberville stated that the Senate would need to “wait and see what happens” as the upper chamber might not be able to secure votes for convicting Biden in an impeachment trial. 

"I know that wouldn't make it to anywhere over here in the Senate. That probably wouldn't even — wouldn't even let it make it to the floor. But again, this is all up to the House. We got enough problems going on right now,” he said.

Despite some support for the inquiry among the House GOP, the effort faces potential roadblocks in the Senate, where Democrats hold a slim majority. Several other Republican senators, including Sens. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and John Thune (R-S.D.), have also expressed opposition to the House pursuing an impeachment inquiry.

Tuberville insisted that any case presented against Biden must be “ironclad” to justify proceeding with an impeachment. He also urged Congress to “not waste time” on a potential Biden impeachment, given the numerous other issues currently facing the nation.
