Utah Woman Swallowed Airpod, Thinking It Was A Vitamin

A woman from Utah accidentally swallowed one of her Apple Inc. AAPL AirPods, mistaking it for a vitamin.

According to a viral TikTok video spotted by Daily Mail, Tanna Barker narrated the incident, explaining how she swallowed the device while chatting with a friend. Barker had taken out her AirPod to hear better and accidentally popped it into her mouth, thinking it was a vitamin.

“I put my vitamins in, took a drink, and I was like, man, those are stuck,” Barker stated in her video. She continued her story, “So I guzzled my water, kept on going, said bye to [the friend] and went to go get my AirPod. And my pills were in my hand. I swallowed my AirPod.”

After realizing her mistake, Barker immediately reached out to friends and doctors. The unanimous advice she received was to let the device pass naturally.

This odd incident is not an isolated one. In February 2021, a man from Massachusetts swallowed one of his AirPods in his sleep, which had to be removed via emergency endoscopy. In November of the same year, another Massachusetts woman swallowed her AirPod after mistaking it for an ibuprofen. In June 2022, a UK celebrity also swallowed an AirPod, mistaking it for a vitamin.
