Mortal Kombat 1 Promises Crossplay After September 14 Launch

Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.'s WBD Mortal Kombat 1 will not have crossplay at launch but plans to implement it post-launch, according to a tweet from the official Mortal Kombat account.

"Launch is just around the corner and we can’t wait for everyone to sink their teeth into #MK1. Regarding Kross-Play, it will not be available at launch, but know we are hard at work at implementing the feature into the game and it will be coming post-launch," the tweet says.

Meanwhile, the specific platforms for crossplay have not been confirmed yet, but hopes are high for PC and console players to play together.

While Mortal Kombat 11 featured crossplay exclusively between PlayStation and Xbox consoles, newer fighting games such as Street Fighter 6 now offer crossplay across all gaming platforms.

Mortal Kombat 1 will launch on Sept. 14 for those with early access from the Premium Edition and on Sept. 19 for everyone else.

Shang Tsung is a pre-order bonus character, and the game recently announced the inclusion of Nitara, voiced by actress Megan Fox.
