Vivek Ramaswamy, entrepreneur and Republican presidential hopeful, has lambasted Hunter Biden’s indictment on gun charges as a “smokescreen”, The Hill reported.
Ramaswamy made his views known on X, previously known as Twitter.
He remarked, “This is a fig leaf designed to deflect attention away from the real problem: the Biden family is selling out U.S. foreign policy for their own family’s private financial gain.”
President Joe Biden‘s son is currently facing three firearms-related charges, as brought forward by Delaware prosecutors. The charges include failing to disclose drug usage during a firearm purchase and possessing a firearm unlawfully while addicted to controlled substances.
In addition, Ramaswamy weighed in on the recent decision by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to launch a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden. He stated that while the move is a step in the right direction, the public must not be distracted from the real issue at hand.
He added, “It's also no accident that today's indictment comes at a moment when President Biden's own popularity within the Democratic Party is cratering. I predict this is the first step for the Democrat Party managerial class to pressure Joe Biden out of the race. Biden will become a sacrificial pawn in service to the deep state that wants to keep power at all costs.”
