Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared insights on differing consumer demand trends within Apple Inc.’s AAPL latest smartphone lineup, with the iPhone 15 Pro facing decreased demand while the Pro Max model demonstrates remarkable sales performance.
What Happened: Kuo, a notable analyst at TF International Securities, during the weekend, said that while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus maintained demand levels on par with their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro appears to be facing a decline in consumer interest.
Kuo said a possible explanation for this shift lies in the premium user base gravitating towards the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max demand has surpassed expectations, outpacing last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max. Kuo’s insights indicate that Apple’s highest-end model is hitting new heights in popularity, potentially driven by advanced features and a robust fan following.
However, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has its challenges. According to the analyst, the longer wait times for this model are more than just a result of high demand. Production delays and pronounced difficulties have contributed to limited shipments.
Regarding concerns over the Chinese government’s potential ban on iPhones, Kuo asserted that while such reports can create apprehension, they might not significantly affect sales in China.
He said the ban primarily impacts specific government organizations and state-owned enterprises rather than the core customer base or Apple enthusiasts.
The analyst has remained optimistic about his previous prediction, saying Apple will sell 80 million units of the iPhone 15 series this year.
Why It’s Important: Last week, Apple unveiled its latest iPhone lineup consisting of four models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The entire iPhone 15 range has become available for preorder, with shipments set to arrive on Sept. 22.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has also shared his choice for the color of his potential iPhone 15 Pro Max. He said, “You know, I’m using the Natural [Titanium].”
