Saudi Crown Prince Takes Stand On Jamal Khashoggi Murder: 'Anyone Involved Is Serving Jail Time'

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman insists that all parties involved in the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi are currently behind bars. This statement comes ahead of the five-year remembrance of the journalist’s murder, The Hill reported.

In a rare interview with Fox News's Bret Baier, the Crown Prince confirmed that anyone implicated in the murder is serving a prison sentence, emphasizing the importance of facing the law.

Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist critical of the Saudi government, was killed by a hit squad inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018. A U.S. intelligence report concluded that bin Salman likely ordered the killing, a claim he has consistently denied.

Reacting to concerns about safety for U.S. tourists and journalists visiting Saudi Arabia, bin Salman compared the legal measures taken in his country to those in America. He highlighted reforms to the security system to prevent such incidents from recurring.

In 2019, Saudi Arabia sentenced five individuals to death and three others to a 24-year jail term for their roles in Khashoggi's murder, a move that was criticized by several lawmakers as a “farce.”

During the interview, bin Salman characterized the relationship between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. under President Biden’s administration as “really interesting” and “really amazing”.
