To cater to the increasing demand for specialized cannabis banking skills, PBC has unveiled its Cannabis Banking Certification Program.
Historically, no universal training benchmark for cannabis banking compliance existed. This deficit impeded banks from employing adequately trained personnel, consequently stymying their capacities to cater to the burgeoning cannabis sector.
"We've noticed a trend over the past year that while the number of banks and credit unions that serve the cannabis industry listed in our Cannabis Banking Directory has grown 20%, the growth is now being limited by the number of trained cannabis banking compliance professionals available,” said Joshua Radbod, co-founder & CEO, PBC Conference. “Our goal is to help address that gap and fill that need."
PBC, A Neutral Linchpin In The Cannabis Banking Ecosystem
The program's introduction took place during PBC 2023's inaugural address and is structured in three levels:
- PBC Cannabis Banking Certificate Level I
- PBC Cannabis Banking Certificate Level II
- PBC Certified Cannabis Banking Professional
While the first two levels offer online training, the advanced certification mandates an in-person component, achievable through the yearly PBC Conference. Banks and credit unions can also attain a PBC Certified badge upon meeting specified standards.
PBC is set to launch the program's beta version this winter. Banking and compliance personnel or institutions eager to join should reach out to PBC directly.
About: Founded in 2018, the PBC Conference primarily catered to executives in cannabis payments, banking, and compliance. It has since broadened its horizons by offering multiple industry tools like the PBC Industry Landscape and the Cannabis Banking Directory.
