GOP Presidential Debate Crucial For Ron DeSantis To Revitalize Popularity, Say Experts

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will face a crucial moment in the upcoming second Republican presidential debate, as he aims to revitalize his campaign amid declining poll numbers, The Hill reported.

A CNN/University of New Hampshire poll showed DeSantis’s popularity dropping 13 points in the key state, trailing behind candidates Vivek Ramaswamy, Nikki Haley, and Chris Christie.

However, a strong performance at next week’s debate could provide DeSantis the much-needed momentum witnessed by Ramaswamy and Haley following their first debate.

Ford O'Connell, a Florida-based Republican strategist, highlighted the pressure on DeSantis to perform well due to his fast-declining poll numbers.

While some suggest the debate presents an opportunity for DeSantis to regain ground, others, like DeSantis donor Dan Eberhart, emphasize the need for the governor to demonstrate that Trump isn’t the guaranteed GOP nomination winner.

The former president Donald Trump will not be present at the debate, instead addressing auto workers in Michigan, leaving room for other candidates to grab the spotlight.

Despite these challenges, DeSantis's supporters continue to negate the narrative that he’s been outperformed, maintaining that it’s still not a one-person race.

With the second debate fast approaching, and Trump continuing to dominate the polls, DeSantis’s performance may be key in determining his campaign’s direction.
