Elon Musk's Father Open To More Children Despite Age: "If She's Under 35, I Wouldn't Think Twice About Having Another Child"

Zinger Key Points
  • Errol Musk expressed an openness to having more children with the right partner.
  • He also touched upon the financial considerations and responsibilities of having children at his age.

In a candid conversation, Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, shared his openness to the idea of having more children, even at his advanced age.

What Happened: In an interview with the Insider published on Saturday, Errol revealed, "Men are all the same. Any man — that I know of anyway — very happily, if he finds the right girl, would have another child. It doesn't matter if he's 90, 20, 50 — doesn't matter what age. I mean, that's what we're built for — that's what we're made for."

Errol's family tree currently boasts seven acknowledged offspring, three of whom are with Elon's mother, Maye Musk. He also has two children with former stepdaughter Jana Bezuidenhout, conceived during her 30s.

Addressing concerns about his relationship with Jana, Errol stated, "I was equally attentive to all of my children." He emphasized that their relationship began when she was an adult, after his marriage to her mother.

On expanding his family, Errol highlighted his age, saying, "I'm 77, but I feel fine. I have an athlete's physique. So if a woman came along who was able to have children, she'd have to be under 35 because a woman's cutoff for having children is 35, believe it or not."

He further added, "But if she's under 35 and I loved her and everything, I wouldn't think twice about having another child, of course."

Errol also touched upon the financial considerations and responsibilities of having children at his age, pondering on the necessary provisions to ensure their well-being after his time has passed.

"At my age you have to think, 'Well, how will they be looked after if you pass away?'" Errol said.

"Unlike with Elon, when I was 24, I have to think 'Well, do I have some investments I can put away if I did have another child that they would be able to go on?' It wouldn't be just based on — like with Elon, when I was 24 — I just figured I've got my whole life to make enough to look after him," he added.
