Elon Musk Was An Intern At A Company Called Rocket Science Before He Founded SpaceX — Billionaire Reminisces

Billionaire CEO Elon Musk on Monday reminisced about his internship days ‘way’ before finding his own rocket manufacturing company SpaceX.

What Happened: The CEO wrote software for video games at a company called Rocket Science as a summer intern before SpaceX was ‘even conceived.’

Musk shared pictures of the game’s CD titled Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine on X, formerly Twitter. The sci-fi video game was developed in the 1990s and is described on the CD case as ‘shoot-to-thrill action adventure.’ Musk also shared a snap of the game’s credits that showed his own name under ‘ground control.’

“Didn't realize until a friend gave me a copy today that they included me in the credits,” Musk wrote.

Musk then reported to Bruce Leak, currently co-founder at Playground Global. Leak was one of the first to buy a Tesla years later, Musk said.

Why It Matters: Musk founded his first company, Zip2, with two others in 1995. SpaceX was founded in 2002. His involvement with EVs and Tesla came later in 2004.
