House Republicans Fire Shots At Matt Gaetz Following Kevin McCarthy's Ouster: 'Got Schooled By AOC'

House Republicans are targeting Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) after a successful effort to remove Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as Speaker. Gaetz is under fire for collaborating with Democrats to expel the GOP leader, inviting personal criticism.

According to The Hill report, some GOP lawmakers are advocating for Gaetz’s removal from the House Republican Conference. This reflects the severe annoyance and rage towards Gaetz within his party.

"Matt Gaetz just got schooled by AOC and others; he was totally manipulated into doing this," said Rep. Garret Graves (R-La.), a close McCarthy ally.

"There were eight so-called Republicans that got together with 208 Democrats to oust the Republican Speaker."

The heightened rhetoric coincides with the House GOP conference’s return to square one—electing a new Speaker—as the government shutdown deadline of Nov. 17 looms.

Graves also dismissed questions about potentially ejecting Gaetz from the conference, stating that it would be a group decision. Rep. Anthony D'Esposito (R-N.Y.) referred to Gaetz’s action as "one of the greatest acts of heresy."

In a historic vote on Tuesday, the House voted to oust McCarthy from the Speakership, thanks to eight Republicans, led by Gaetz, who sided with all Democrats to oust McCarthy. This marked the first successful “motion to vacate the chair” since 1910.

Meanwhile, Gaetz remains unfazed by the criticism directed towards him and has faced substantial reproach from Republicans for raising funds off his effort to oust McCarthy.
