Sony Group Corp. SONY has recently disclosed a second security breach.

The cyberattack was reported a week after an extortion group known as Ransomed.vc claimed responsibility for hacking into Sony's systems and stealing 3.14GB of data.

This new breach dates back to May and involves the personal data of nearly 6,791 current and former Sony employees, Kotaku reported.

To address this breach, Sony is offering affected individuals "complimentary Equifax complete Premier credit monitoring and identity restoration services."

The recent hack was initially publicized by Ransomed.vc.

Sony, after initially investigating the claims, confirmed that a third-party forensics specialist helped identify rogue activity on a server in Japan used for internal testing in the Entertainment, Technology, and Services (ET&S) business, which is separate from Sony's gaming, music, and movie divisions.

The affected server has been taken offline, and there's no indication that customer or business partner data was stored on it, nor has there been any adverse impact on Sony's operations.

"There is currently no indication that customer or business partner data was stored on the affected server or that any other Sony systems were affected. There has been no adverse impact on Sony’s operations," the company said in a statement.
