Donald Trump’s niece Mary Trump came down hard on her uncle after the former president made use of the crisis in the Middle East to slam the Biden administration for the U.S.-Mexican border crisis.
What Happened: Donald Trump’s rant in a recent Truth Social post in which he suggested the terrorists behind the Israeli attacks are infiltrating into the U.S. through the southern border caught the attention of his niece Mary Trump.
“The same people that raided Israel are pouring into our once beautiful USA, through our TOTALLY OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER, at Record Numbers,” Donald Trump said in the post. He raised the possibility of them planning an attack within the country.
“Crooked Joe Biden and his BOSS, Barack Hussein Obama, did this to us!” he added.
Responding to the tweet, Mary Trump, a psychologist by profession and the harshest critic of her uncle, turned the table on him. “This f***king maniac likely gave [Vladimir] Putin (who gave Iran, who gave Hamas) Israel’s national security secrets….,” she said.
The “Mary Trump Show” podcast host noted that Donald Trump divulged classified information about the U.S. nuclear submarines to an Australian cardboard guy. After the former president left office, he shared, apparently classified information about American nuclear submarines with Australian businessman Anthony Pratt during an evening of conversation at Mar-a-Lago, the New York Times reported last week, citing people familiar with the matter.
Mary Trump also commented, “Why is he still allowed to roam free?”
Why It’s Important: Donald Trump is currently facing multiple legal cases in the U.S., including four indictments, even as he contests in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. He is also contesting a civil fraud lawsuit in the U.S. brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James for inflating assets and properties in a bid to bigger loan amounts by pledging those.
Justice Arthur Engoron, who has been appointed to try the case, said in a summary judgment that Donald Trump is guilty of fraud and precluded him and the Trump organization from doing business in New York.
Despite the legal challenges, Donald Trump is still leading a crowded GOP primary field and it appears that he is all set to claim nomination unless he is found ineligible to run. As of Oct. 9, Donald Trump leads with 57.8% of GOP voters backing him, according to the compilation of the results of multiple polls by polling analytics firm FiveThirtyEight. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was a distant second with the backing of 14.8% of the GOP voters.
Incidentally, the U.S.-Mexico border crisis is a main election this year, with Republicans blaming President Joe Biden for the surge in the border crossings from the south.
