Boeing Wins Contract For Four 787 Dreamliners From African Airline

Boeing Company BA got an order from the African carrier TAAG Angola Airlines for four widebody 787 Dreamliner jets. 

The deal is at par with TAAG Angola Airlines' plan to renew its fleet. The terms were not disclosed.

TAAG Angola currently flies five 777-300ER (extended range) jets, three 777-200ERs, and seven 737-700s to 12 locations in China, South America, Africa and Europe.

"The 787 Dreamliner will enable TAAG Angola Airlines to open new routes and expand their international network. The Dreamliner's market-leading efficiency and passenger comfort will advance the carrier's fleet modernization plans," stated Anbessie Yitbarek, BA's vice president of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa.

As per Boeing's Commercial Market Outlook for Africa, the continent will need 1,025 airplanes in the next two decades, and overall African air traffic growth is expected to be 7.4% vs the global average growth of 6.1%.

Price Action: BA shares are trading higher by 0.54% at $189.51 premarket on the last check Tuesday.
