Tesla Cybertruck Fleet Spotted At Texas Gigafactory Ahead Of Expected Delivery Event

A small fleet of Tesla Inc.’s TSLA Cybertrucks was recently observed at the company’s Gigafactory in Texas, triggering anticipation of an imminent delivery event announcement.

According to an Electrek report, the test program for the Cybertruck ahead of official production start is one of Tesla’s most extensive to date. The company has been manufacturing Cybertrucks and distributing them around the U.S., and as far as New Zealand for cold-weather testing.

Despite numerous sightings of the Cybertrucks and a missed delivery event timeline at the end of the last quarter, a launch date for the production model remains undisclosed. Observers are speculating that Tesla may announce the delivery event in conjunction with the release of its Q3 earnings on Wednesday.

A fleet of nine Cybertrucks was spotted at the Texas Gigafactory by drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer, ahead of the potential announcement. Tesla’s test program for the Cybertrucks could potentially involve hundreds of units.

This approach is not unusual for larger automakers who aim to accumulate millions of miles of testing and send some trucks for crash testing. However, it represents a shift for Tesla as fewer test units had been spotted for previous vehicle programs.

In recent delivery events, Tesla has only delivered a handful of vehicles to employees. However, there is hope that Tesla might be building a larger fleet for more extensive deliveries in its upcoming events. The company has not yet disclosed the Cybertruck’s specifications or price.
