Pierce Crosby is the General Manager at TradingView, a popular platform for financial charts, ideas, and overall market analysis.
Crosby is among the industry leaders gathering at Benzinga's Fintech Deal Day event in New York City on Nov. 13, participating in a panel titled "From Trading Floors to Digital Screens: The Transformation of Trading."
After obtaining a Bachelor's degree at the University of California and a Master's degree from Columbia University, Crosby started his career as a reporter at Reuters before a 5-year tenure at StockTwits. After joining TradingView in 2019, he helped establish and grow the platform's presence in North America.
TradingView is a platform that offers access to a wide array of assets, datasets, tools, visualizations and even a vibrant trading community. Arguably, it is the most popular for its powerful charting capabilities. Still, TradingView's mission is much more than that. It wants to democratize financial markets by making them accessible to everyone.
In an interview for Chart Addicts, Crosby pointed out that most customers won't fully grasp or use Web 3.
"Many people around the world are just beginning their investing journey. Countries like Turkey, India, Brazil, and Nigeria stand out, with massive populations, rapid growth rates, and a relatively young demographic," he said, emphasizing that a near-term opportunity in these regions lies in getting people accustomed to the concept of investing.
TradingView: Becoming A Full Stack Solution
While the platform has built a loyal user base among power users, he emphasizes the need to cater to a broader audience. The company is expanding its operations globally, focusing on Asia. Crosby envisions TradingView’s role as an information provider, connecting more platforms and facilitating broader access to financial markets.
A recent addition to the platform, TradingView Streams, aims to revolutionize how people consume market commentary by allowing users to share their research and trades in real-time, enabling a more community-driven approach. This market commentary feature has already seen remarkable growth, with over 500 traders and investors streaming and more than 300,000 viewers tuning in.
When asked about the future of TradingView, Crosby highlights the importance of this mission.
"We have clients or customers in about 180 countries all around the world. What we really want to do is be the default platform in all these countries, so we're not doing anything new per se, but really just distributing as much as possible," he said in a recent interview, dubbing their goal "the full stack solution for a trader."
