Samsung's Next Flagship Could Pick Up Some Of Pixel 8's Top AI Features

Your next Samsung smartphone could support the Generative AI wallpaper feature that has caught everyone's fancy thanks to Alphabet Inc.'s GOOG GOOGL Google Pixel 8.

What Happened: Qualcomm Inc.'s QCOM upcoming flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, could support Generative AI background creation, just like on the Tensor G3-powered Pixel 8, according to tipster Revegnus.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd.'s SSNLF Galaxy S24 series will be among the first smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Generative AI wallpapers will soon stop being exclusive to the Pixel 8 series.

In addition to this, the leaked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 specs sheet also mentions the ability to use Stable Diffusion for video captures, AI-powered "Photo Expansion" and improved 5G connectivity with AI hardware acceleration.

While Stable Diffusion can generate videos with text prompts, it's not clear yet what Qualcomm will use it for in this case since the leaked specs talk about video capture.

And there's some pleasant news for gamers, too – the Galaxy S24 series could also support 240 frames per second (fps) in games thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. However, this will require a 240Hz display.

Qualcomm could also unveil some interesting new features like upscaling game resolution to 8K, Ray Tracing, and more.

Why It Matters: The race for AI-powered features trickling down to smartphones has begun in earnest, with Google bringing it into the mainstream with AI-generated wallpapers and other AI-powered Magic Editor features exclusive to the Pixel 8 series.

Other rumors also suggest that Samsung itself is working on several AI-powered features. However, since the Galaxy S24 launch is still a few months away, the details are scant and full of buzzwords right now. That said, we should know more details in the coming weeks.
