Ford's Electric F-150 Lightning Lineup Sees Slight Price Bump

Particular trims from legacy automaker Ford Motor Co‘s F 2024 F-150 Lightning lineup are reportedly priced higher than the current models. The all-electric truck will now start $100 higher at $52,090.

What Happened: Ford is progressively releasing the pricing details for its 2024 F-150 Lightning lineup. The Pro model now starts at $52,090, showing a slight increase of $100 over the current 2023 Model year vehicle pricing, Car and Driver reported.

Moving up from the entry-level Pro, the plushier new XLT is priced at $59,590, a boost of $2600 over the current XLT model. The new Lariat starts at $79,590, marking a $7,600 increase over the current model and $20,000 more than the gasoline variant of the Lariat, the report said.

Ford has also introduced a new trim model called the Flash, which bridges the gap between the XLT and Lariat, with a starting price of $72,090.

TrimModel Year 2024 PriceDifference With Model Year 2023 Price As Per Report
Pro$52,090$100
XLT$59,590$2,600
Flash$72,090
Lariat$79,590$7,600

Why It Matters: The new price announcement comes mere months after a significant price cut for the F-150 Lightning. In July, Ford cut prices on the vehicle by as much as $9,979. Ford CEO Jim Farley said then that the price reduction was not to generate an order bank for the current production rate, but for a tripling in production after a factory upgrade.

The F-150 Lightning is Ford’s key player against Tesla Inc‘s upcoming Cybertruck. The first Cybertruck deliveries will take place in November. However, given that Tesla has yet to reveal the pricing of the vehicle, it is currently difficult to gauge the impact of this price hike in the upcoming race against the EV giant.
