EV giant Tesla Inc TSLA has introduced a new paint option called “Stealth Gray” for its premium Model S and Model X vehicles in specific regions, including the United States.
What Happened: What’s distinctive about this addition is that it’s offered at no additional cost, included in the base price of the vehicle. However, it’s important to note that this exclusive paint option is only available for Tesla’s higher-end models and is limited to North America and Asia.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, recently shared a brief video showcasing the Model S in this new paint color, playfully referring to it as a “Sleeper agent” due to its dark and understated appearance.
Why It Matters: Interestingly, the Stealth Gray paint appears to be a refined version of Tesla’s ‘Midnight Silver Metallic’ color. Previously, Midnight Silver Metallic was discontinued for the Model S and Model X in the U.S., though it is still an option for the Model Y and Model 3.
In the U.S., customers seeking alternative paint choices for their Model S or Model X can opt for colors such as white, black, ultra red, or deep blue, all of which are vibrant and appealing. The introduction of Stealth Gray adds a more subdued and sophisticated option to Tesla’s color offerings.
